Churchill News - March 21, 2018

Happy Spring! We hope that everyone had a great March Break and is as excited about the last few months of school and all of the many activities as we are. You will be hearing a lot about our current fundraising campaign for the Schoolyard Project and the exciting and fun activities/events we will be holding to raise an additional 35k for the log jam feature for our soon to be rejuvenated upper yard.  We encourage you to participate, in any ways you can – and we welcome any time and talent you may have to help with this campaign! If you can support the project by contributing your time please get in touch with the schoolyard team at [email protected].

Your ongoing support to the school community and to this time sensitive initiative is appreciated!

Schoolyard Project Fundraising Update:

Thank you to all of you who have started seeking pledges for the dance-a-thon or who have already donated online.  Over the past 2 weeks we’ve raised $1,260 through the CHIMP Foundation online platform.  This is a good start towards our goal - we now have to raise around another $33,500 to build the log jam.  The next 2 weeks will be key – please support as you can!

Opportunities to Support the Schoolyard Project:

Dance-a-thon: The Churchill dance-a-thon is coming up on Thursday April 5 (just over 2 weeks away).  This is one of our key opportunities to reach beyond immediate families to seek donations for the yard.  Students are asked to seek pledges from family and friends to support their dancing and, ultimately, the schoolyard.  Electronic copies of the letter and forms that were sent home in backpacks and by email can be downloaded at: http://groundedinplay.ca/2018/03/14/churchill-dance-a-thon/.  ** The letter includes a sample email, Facebook message, and Twitter posts that your family can copy and paste to reach out to anyone who might be interested in making a pledge.

FundScrip: A number of families have signed up, ordered gift cards and started shopping but …we need to keep momentum going! We are hopeful that many folks who responded to our survey will sign up and participate in this easy fundraising program.  We’re all already buying groceries and gas, etc. so why not also start raising funds for the school – it couldn’t be easier!

Hot Lunches Program:

We are now accepting orders for Term 3 on Hot Lunches.  Please be advised that smoothies are now on the food menu, so you will be able to make different flavour selections.  Milk is still "all or nothing" with no date change options.

If you have a balance on your account, it will be applied to your new order.  Should you have a problem making a purchase on Paypal, please contact us and we can arrange to accept a cheque.

Have a great end to your week!
